You've got better things to do than worry about your roof. Yet
decisions about when and whether to replace your roof might be the
biggest you'll make as a homeowner. Here's what to look for:
- What's the age of your roof?
If you're not sure, or if you think it could be as old as 10 years, a free roof inspection is
a good idea.
Are your gutters and downspouts clean?
Clogging could indicate a drainage problem. Sandy sediment can indicate your shingles are wearing thin.
Can you see any damage, mildew, or debris on your roof?
If you can see anything from the ground, its worth having a professional look more closely.
Do any trees overhang your roof?
Damage and clogging from falling debris and leaves is a major factor in roof wear and tear.
Are there any interior signs of water damage?
While ceiling and wall discoloration may indicate existing leakage,
bubbling paint, rot or mildew can foretell more problems to come.
